EsNtion's WMC Warp Up

On Thursday, March 23rd, EsNtion's president, Bill McCormick, spoke on the Indy Label panel at the Winter Music Conference. While he managed to slip in a couple of off color jokes, overall very few people were offended by him, so we counted that as progress. The packed panel was moderated by Chris "The Greek" and featured panelists Adam Marano - Viper Music, Josh Babyar - Hefty Records, Mike Fresco - Gotsoul Records and Jason Klein - Monster Taxi. Due to the diversity of the panelists, the audience was treated to stories about everything from running a label out of your bedroom to how to deal with major label distribution. The discussions were frank and the questions were well thought out so everyone benefitted.

On Tuesday, March 20th, EsNtion's media "Meet and Greet" for opening day went very well also. Trixie Reiss from Tricky Bizzniss joined Bill and helped handle all the introductions to artists. Without her and her amazing road manager Racquel, Bill is pretty sure he would have screwed this up. So, between them and the wonderful staff at Dek23, everyone actually had a good time.



The party later that night at Dek23 (655 Washington, Miami Beach,) featured live performances by Danielle Bollinger, Adam Barta, DJ Keri, Bam Bam Buddha, Tiffanie and mix sets from Melle Mel from WKQI (Detroit), Ray Roc, Dave Pezza, DJ Russ Harris and Suzy Solar. Suffice it to say, if you weren't boogieing, you were dead. This line-up kept the house pumping all night long. The pic you see of Bill holding Danielle Bollinger above Suzy Solar was featured in this week's FMQB newsletter. It was also the talk of the convention, it seemed.



Danielle Bollinger was nominated for Best Pop/Dance Song (Kiss the Sky) and as Best New Artist (solo) at IDMA (the International Dance Music Awards). Other nominees included Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Rhiana and Beyonce w/ Jay Z among others. Although Danielle did not win this year, we are all proud of her and how far she has come in such a short time. Danielle has had at least one song on a Billboard chart for over the last 100 weeks. Obviously someone likes her. She is currently in the studio with Tony Moran, David Pezza and others recording her new album. Watch for it later this year.
