Lefty Perez Joins El-Zol, AP in Concert & Russ Harris Parties!

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) (NASDAQ: SBSA) announced today that Lefty Pérez is joining WXDJ-FM 95.7 FM El Zol as the new host for the "Top 20 Countdown." Pérez' first show debuted on Saturday, November 10, at 9:00 AM.

"The Top 20 Countdown" is a two-hour show featuring the top 20 songs of each week," said Jackie Nosti-Cambó, Vice President and General Manager of SBS Radio in Miami. "We are confident that the combination of these hit songs and Lefty’s booming energy and enthusiasm will create a show that our audience will wholeheartedly support and enjoy."

Lefty Perez, a Salsa vocalist, was born and raised in New York’s "El Barrios" (Spanish Harlem), and lived there until he was 13 when he and his parents returned to the family’s homeland in Puerto Rico. The son of Mirito Perez, a professional guitar player, Lefty was exposed to music at an early age and showed a natural affinity for this art. Ironically, however, his first professional performance was as an actor on the Venezuelan television series, "La Revancha."

His successful music career included collaborations with top producers and composers such as Larry Harlow, Ray Barretto, Conjunto Clasico, and Johnny Pacheco. In 1990, the young Salsero released "Working Out," which was his first solo performance. It wasn’t until 1997, however, that he began to receive a large following after releasing his popular album "Soy Tuyo" on the Caimen Entertainment music label.

As co-producer and composer, Lefty invested a great deal of time and energy into this album. Through his hard work and dedication, he finally gained recognition in various categories on the Latin Billboard chart with his single "Me da Locura." For the next several years, he continued to work hard and produce quality music, eventually earning his way back into the charts with his single "Salseros Unidos" (EsNtion Latino).
