Review by Greg Prato
Modern-day pop comes in all shapes in sizes, and P-1 have no problem touching upon several different pop approaches on their sophomore effort, 2006's Power. With a sound that runs the pop music gamut, lead singer B.A. handles whichever curve balls are thrown her way -- whether it be dance/house (the album-opening "Let's Go"), Latin pop ("Ladrona"), Jamiroquai-esque chillout tunes ("Wisteria"), or a reggae makeover of Pat Benatar's "Love Is a Battlefield." Admittedly, there are quite a few other similar-sounding pop artists who mine similar musical terrain, but P-1 are certainly a cut above the cookie-cutter American Idol type foolishness, as evidenced throughout Power.
